You want to party at the Goya 2022

 

The recent Spanish nominations for the Oscars, the presence of Cate Blanchett as the first Goya of Honor or even the best situation of the pandemic, augur some very festive and cathartic film awards.

One day you wake up and -by the grace of the Hollywood Film Academy- your self-esteem as a Spanish film industry goes through the roof. Thanks to the Oscar nominations of our actors and stars Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, that of the composer Alberto Iglesias (what merit do you have, you have spoiled us, congratulations again) and that of the animator Alberto Mielgo , we can take advantage of the kindness and merits of our films and professionals without fear of that hater brother-in-law or tweeter (A piece of advice, you better not try to reason. Phobias are sometimes visceral and do not attend to reason. We can feel proud of Spanish cinema all year round).

Let's add to the high the news known a few days before. Somewhat unexpectedly, the Spanish Film Academy pulled out of its sleeve the baptized International Goya, an award for "personalities who contribute to cinema as art", quite a success -which perhaps reminds some of the Donostia award- and which help pack these prizes. In addition, the first to receive it will be the actress Cate Blanchett , a double Oscar winner who will soon be under the orders of Pedro Almodóvar for the film adaptation of 'Manual for cleaning women ', the best-known novel of Lucia Berlin. Just the image of the Australian parading the red carpet of the City of Sciences and Arts will already help multiply the media impact (within and outside our borders) of the ceremony.

Let's add to all this, for example, the disappearance of masks on the street , one more sign that the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel is getting brighter and clearer, that that long-awaited normality is a little closer, than the cinemas -although they will never be what they were- they could fill up a little more and rejoice the box office. Add the reason you want here. The fact is that one is left wanting to party for the next Goya.
